APOLLO – International Youth Theatre Festival
The 9th edition of Apollo – International Youth Theatre Festival was the first edition of this event that was co-financed grace to LOCUS project. The Organizer – Skepsis Group NGO received also the support of several local partners: Alba Iulia Municipality; Alba County Council; National Museum of Unification Alba Iulia; Students Cultural House Alba Iulia; Inter Art Foundation Aiud.
The event was organized on 12.10.2023-16.12.2023 and included 105 artists, 11 groups and companies and independent artists from several cities of Romania and from other countries (Italy, Germany, Poland, Ucraine, Turkey, Argentina, Spain, India, Slovenia). The program included 17 various events (theatre performances; art exhibition; short movie projections; a masterclass; a
workshop and a conference) during 5 days. All shows were indoor performances organized at the Students Cultural House and at two museums of the city (National Museum of Unification and Principia Museum) located in the historical center of Alba Iulia “Carolina” Citadel. The access was free access for everyone.
The program offered 17 art events for the general public and for the participants.

Beside the theatre groups and companies, several special guests were invited to take part in the event:
– Prof. Armando Rotondi (Barcelona, ES), from the Art Institute of Barcelona, was invited to
coordinate a Storytelling Master class for the participants.
– Matias Bareto (Buenos Aires, AG), a young researcher, was invited to coordinate a
workshop for the participants with the theme Artificial Inteligence for Artists, Designers and
Creative Industries
– Prof. Cristian Stamatoiu (Targul Mures, RO), from the University of Art, Targul Mures, was invited to present a conference with the theme Thames and London in the time of Shakespeare for the participants and the general public
– Elena Ivanca (Cluj Napoca, RO), well known actress from the National Theater, Cluj Napoca, was invited to present a one-woman show performance within the frame of the event’s program.
With the support of Inter-Art Foundation NGO, from Aiud, the festival included an
international art exhibition that opened at the National Museum of Alba Iulia. The exhibition presented a series of original works of art signed by well known visual artists: Ozlem Kalkan Erenus (Turkey), Asit Kumar Patnaik (India), Constantin Migliorini (Italy), Lojze Kalinsek (Slovenia).
Something new in the program of the festival was the short film projections:
– The Loop – a short film on depression and anxiety of young people – made by a young
student from Alba Iulia, member of the Skepsis Group NGO
– CinePoetry – a short movie presented by Teatrul21 (Iasi, RO), that proposed a visual
interpretation of poetries signed by Emil Brumaru, a well known Romanian poet
